The project
The goal of this project is the restoration and rehabilitation of the Metropolitan Church of Iaşi.
Some of the desired results of this project:
- repair and renovation of the Central Office of the Metropolitan Church and of the „D. Stăniloae” Library;
- renovation and repair of the façades of the monastic hostel „Sf. Gheorghe”, the Epivata House, the Old Cathedral and the Metropolitan Palace with the goal of achieving a homogenous aspect of the entire complex;
- restoration of the choir screens of the Metropolitan Church and the Old Cathedral;
- endowment of the Metropolitan Complex;
- additional amenities dedicated to tourists and visitors;
- redesigning the places of touristic interest;
- works which will highlight the best parts of historic monuments of national importance.
Additional implications and results of this project:
- a total of 18.011 square meters of restored world heritage monuments out of which:
- 5.396 m2 consolidated and restored buildings' surfaces;
- 8.990 m2 of renovated and remodelled façades of buildings which are considered historical monuments;
- 3.625 m2 miscellaneous surfaces.
- a total of 69 pieces of equipment acquired with the purpose of preserving the aforementioned points of cultural patrimony:
- 62 air conditioning fixtures;
- 4 fire safety and prevention kits and fire extinguishers;
- 3 alarm systems – burglary prevention.
Once the complex is renovated, it will be advertised as integral part of already existing touristic circuits and not as a stand alone sightseeing point of interest.
