The Palace Hotel – Baile Govora– Meeting deadlines and communication
DATE PROIECT

Total Value 4.571.230,97 Lei
Grant Value 2.151.061,87 Lei
The Palace Hotel is a historical monument, built during 1911-1914, based on the project of French architect Ernest Dornaud. The hotel is placed at the very centre of Băile Govora spa and its building had a major impact on the spa’s development.
In accordance with current laws, Palace is a one star hotel. The most important modernisation and repair works took place in 1965-1967, when a central heating system was installed and some of the rooms were equipped with en-suite bathrooms. However, these interventions have damaged the building’s structure.
The value of the investment needed to repair the damage and to modernise the hotel, so that it meets the requirements of a four stars hotel, was too large for the company to do on its own. Once co-financing opportunities were identified by the company, Mihai Handolescu, the General Manager, contracted RELIANS for project management services.
„The most important issues of the project were the very tight deadlines and prioritising the investment steps in order to stay within budget limits. These elements were managed solely through an efficient communication between us, as beneficiary, the consultant and the engineer”
Ec. Mihai Handolescu, General Manager of SC Băile Govora SA
The role of the project manager, provided by RELIANS, was not only to ensure the quality and timely application of the documentation required to obtain the financing, but also to elaborate the economical and financial analysis, to initiate and plan the project activities, to elaborate the marketing strategy, to ensure the financial feasibility, therefore fulfilling all the stakeholders’ requirements.
All of these allowed a timely and successful application for the project. The financing contract was signed in November 2009.
